“Building the Central Valley’s First Public Aquarium”

With Tom & Aletha Lang

Tom ALang

Tom Lang is the Executive Director of Fresno’s Future Aquarium. While Tom was Eagle Scout, he began his journey as a volunteer at the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley - assisting in establishing their aquarium exhibits prior to that zoo’s opening to the public in May 1978. After moving with his family to Fresno in 1979, Tom and his wife Aletha, founded Aquarius Aquarium.
Their company was incorporated in 1993 and has given the couple extensive experience in designing holistic aquarium systems to maintain communities of freshwater and marine fish as well as other aquatic animals in optimal health for their entire life cycles.
In 2000, Aquarius Aquarium INSTITUTE was founded to develop educational outreach programs about our aquatic world in San Joaquin Valley classrooms and to gather support to build a freshwater and saltwater Public Aquarium in Fresno for the entire Valley.
Tom and Aletha now have two grown children and two grandsons. Tom will share the progress of his Institute’s nonprofit educational Fresno Aquarium project at Herndon Avenue and Freeway 99 and explain how our children and our entire region will benefit from having this facility in our own backyard.
