A Year of Unexpected Solutions

As we begin to see some light at the end of the tunnel, and we are able to breath a little easier, solutions of this past year reveal how we as a human race took on this challenge.

The PMI California Central Valley Chapter (CCVC) is hosting their annual Professional Development Day (PDD) and is actively seeking speakers for the event. The purpose of the event is to support the chapter’s mission to promote project management as a profession to our Central Valley community by providing a forum for exchanging project management knowledge & expertise, creating networking opportunities, supporting professional development and advocating PM excellence.

Unexpected Solutions | PDD August 26, 2021

The COVID-19 Pandemic has made the past year one of the toughest healthcare crises our country and world has had to endure.  When we began the Stay at Home order over a year ago, many of our organizations weren’t prepared for the dramatic shift in work environment for their workforce. Every aspect of our lives, our economy, our environments was to change without notice, and instantaneously. It was within these sudden moments of change that brought creative solutions and innovation. Our hospitals shifted to quickly taking on thousands of sick individuals.  IT departments quickly stepped up to the challenge and got everyone equipped with a work from home that permitted them to be outside the typical work setting.  Our transportation industry took on record increases in shipments to provide supplies to the American people often directly to their homes as many stores closed or limited access.  Our agricultural industry worked with fewer personnel and supplies available, while staff quickly learned what was needed to continue working with their teams and run businesses.

What other solutions have you seen resultant from your organization’s reaction to the Pandemic?

We want YOU to tell your story of hope emerging from chaos and invite you to consider doing so at our 2021 PMI-CCVC PDD event!  If you are interested, and we truly hope that is the case, please read on!

Expected Attendance

Building on the excitement and interest generated in last year’s PDD hosted in October 2020, with the theme of “Leadership in a Changing World”, it is expected that well over one hundred attendees will be in attendance to this event.  Your fellow PDD participants come with a strong interest and desire to expand upon their skills and take information back to their organizations to use in serving their communities. These individuals are expecting a high-value return on their time investment by getting practical, real-world lessons they can in turn bring back to their respective workplaces and apply to the similar challenges they face.  Most of all, we are all in need to hear YOUR story of hope, determination and grit as you witnessed your organization overcome the first global pandemic in over a century!

Keynote Speakers

Keynote Speakers were recruited from Industries who have much influence on the economic vitality and health of the Central Valley businesses, their employees, and the residents they serve.  It is hoped by selecting these specific speakers that their respective industries will be inspired to participate in this event as industry track speakers themselves or as registrants for the event, taking advantage of this opportunity to network with other professionals who do the same.

Industry Track Sessions

With a focus on “Solutions” born of a response to the Pandemic, this PDD will attract project professionals and other organizational leadership interested in how it is possible to not only survive a terrible pandemic, but to emerge stronger and better prepared for the next challenges ahead.

Industry Track Speaker Proposals

Speakers interested in making a presentation may submit brief proposals to the planning committee with the form below - Please use the attached proposal template when submitting your proposal.   If you have more than one, please submit a separate form for each proposed presentation.

Deadline for presentation proposal submission is July 8, 2021; the speaker selection committee will make their choices and respond to all submitters by the July 15, 2021. If there are any questions regarding the suitability of a presentation, please feel free to use the e-mail above directly.

Industry Speaker Compensation (IMPORTANT)

Our PMI chapter is a non-profit made up of volunteers.  As such, we have very limited funding available which means we are unable to pay for industry track speakers selected to present at the summit.  If selected as speaker, however, we will provide a complimentary bronze level sponsorship package as our thank you for offering to present.

Please forward this message to other professionals at your or other target industry organizations you may view as ideals speakers.  We know many of you have influence on your colleagues and can help us drawing more participants from around the Central Valley to showcase the successful “solutions” they have put in place.

We hope you take advantage of this opportunity to submit a proposal and/or promote to other professionals to do the same!
