LaVonne Banks is the director of the enterprise project management office for Kern Health Systems, previously recognized by PMI as a 2020 PMO of the Year® finalist. LaVonne spent more than 20 years in the financial aid industry where she was introduced to project management over 17 years ago. Currently, and for the last 10 years, she has enjoyed leading project managers and providing portfolio management in the healthcare industry. In 2020 LaVonne joined the board of the PMI California Central Valley Chapter as their vice president of professional development. LaVonne recently completed her master’s degree in administration at California State University Bakersfield and received the Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification in 2016.

We will step through their modest PMO beginnings in 2012 up to being selected as one of three finalists for PMI's prestigious PMO of the Year® Award in 2020. We will also look at where they are today and some of the lessons learned over the last 10 years, along with takeaway suggestions for how to improve your own PMOs.
