Managing Vendors for Project Success - Fresno Monthly Meeting

Ways of Working

Description of Presentation

Are all your vendor contracts on track? This presentation offers evaluation questions (“look fors”), strategies and tips for program managers to get the most out of their vendors to keep contracts on schedule and under budget. Strategies include setting rigorous expectations for contract documentation, effective progress monitoring, defining conditions for acceptance of deliverables, and the key to making it all happen - communication. Practical examples range from government, non-profit and for-profit projects personally managed or observed by the speaker.

Learning Objectives

  • Expand evaluation of their current (and future) vendor relations for risks that may impact schedule, budget, and quality of deliverables, regardless of phase of project.
  • Expand repertoire of project management strategies to address identified risks for vendor contract work with understanding of when to use them.
